Open Advice top tips: How do you learn?

• Do you learn best when you see or hear something or when you have something written down?
• Do you like to move round as you learn, perhaps talking about a subject?
• Do you prefer to sit down and read in a quiet place, repeating things out loud as you read?
• Does jotting notes help you or do you find mind maps useful?

Paul:
"I think I study best by reading and taking notes from the course texts. Reading and note-taking are the core elements in my studying. I watch videos and listen to the tapes: they reinforce what the text books say."

Gill:
"I think a variety of approaches stops me from getting stale. I've used the books and course units mainly. I've enjoyed the programmes but found them surprisingly hard work. The audio tapes have been one of the most useful ways for me to learn."
