I have researched my family tree quite extensively and have traced my 3rd Gt.Grandfather as being a Driver Gunner in the RHA from 1807 to 1817. I have managed to follow his path including his enlistment at Woolwich to the Fields of Waterloo, where he was attached to Major Bull's (I) troop (Howitzer Battery).
With the assistance of family records, the RHA Museum, NA, Wellington's State of the Army, Waterloo Muster Rolls, Mercer's diaries, visits to the Waterloo battlefield and numerous studies I have completed a good picture of his military career.
Are there any readers that have a joint interest that would care to exchange information?

Hello Derek,
My 3gt. grandfather Elias STANDEN was also in I Troop of the Royal Horse Artillery at Waterloo as a farrier.
A kind soul on Rootschat found him in the Waterloo Medals Roll as Elias STANDING.
I have searched the Nat Archives Catalogue on-line without finding any record of him.
Can you offer any advice on searching for his army record when I visit Kew later this year?
From his family activities he moved from Canterbury to Woolwich 1812-1813 and moved from Woolwich to Waresley, Huntingdonshire, about 1812-1818.
Bob.
Re: Royal Horse Artillery
Have you tried the Ministry of Defence? So far as I know they still hold military records and do what they can to dig out what they have, though I don't know how complete the material is or how far back it goes.

As an ex gunner might I suggest that you try the Artillery museum in London. They have extensive records of soldiers past
and present. Also you can try the Royal Artillery Association who will be very willing to help.
