These directions will guide you along the route of the Edinburgh audio walk. Why not print out this page and take it with you?
The walk takes roughly 1 and a half hours if you're listening to the audio.
The route is on roads and pavements, but the Royal Mile section is quite steep. So the walk is possible for wheelchair users, but may require a bit of muscle.

The walk begins on the path, at the point where it crosses the railings around St Margaret’s Well.
Point 1: Holyrood Park
Cross the road and car park ahead. Follow the palace wall around to the side gates of the palace.

Continue to follow the palace wall around to the main gates.

Turn your back on the gates, and walk up the Canongate until you reach the Tolbooth.

Continue walking until you reach the junction with St Mary’s Street.

Cross the road and continue walking up the Royal Mile on the right side of the road until you reach John Knox House.

Continue walking up the Royal Mile to the Cathedral. Look out for the Market Cross. It’s just before you reach St Giles’ Cathedral.

Continue walking further up the hill. The Lawnmarket is part of the Royal Mile.

Walk to our final stop on the ramparts of Edinburgh Castle.
