on .... being dynamic
Well done Evan, very interesting video,
Having recently worked for an incumbant in a highly competitive and dynamic market (the mobile phone industry) I don't think incubnants only choise to be less dynamic. Often there is also the fact that it is hard for incumbents to be dynamic due to their hierarchies, structure, their culture and their political setup.
Because of this changes can be really really difficult to make for incumbants, in my opinion, even if some individuals inside the incumbants still try to make these changes. These brave individuals risk their job and/or career by doing so as usually huge changes are necessary throughout the whole organisation to realise these changes, which means they are potentially stepping on a lot of toes.
Although I do think change is possible within incimbants, individuals who drive them need to have many preunderstandings and be very highly tuned socially to deal with numerous stakeholders not to mention the complexity of the change itself.
