Facilitating learning in practice

1 Learning theories

This section introduces you to specific learning theories that explain how individuals acquire information and organise their skills and knowledge during the learning process. To stimulate your thinking about learning, you will consider a set of images that are linked with specific learning theories, and then watch online videos that offer explanations for some of the theories.

The first two activities in the behaviourist theory section are intended to raise your awareness and increase your knowledge and understanding of ‘classical conditioning’ and ‘operant conditioning’.
