Baroness Mary Warnock is a philosopher, writer and broadcaster interested in morality, education and the mind. She served on the Independent Broadcasting Authority for ten years and was considered for the post of Chair of Governors at the BBC. Before this, she taught and was headmistress of Oxford High School for Girls
Mary is most famous for her role chairing two important committees of inquiry: firstly, into the education of handicapped children and young people, which resulted in Special Educational Needs (1978); and secondly, into the ethics of embryos and human fertilisation in 1984. She's also written many books including An Intelligent Person’s Guide to Ethics, Making Babies: Is There a Right to Have Children? and A Memoir - People and Places.
