Biography

Read Benedikt Stuchtey’s biography.

Benedikt Stuchtey is deputy director of the German Historical Institute London. He studied at the universities of Münster, Trinity College Dublin, and Freiburg, where he took his doctorate. His major fields of research are the history and theory of historiography and the history of West European imperialism in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. His most recent publication is (ed.), Science across the European Empires, 1800-1950 (Oxford University Press, 2005).
