Biography

Read Chris Wickham’s biography.

Dr Chris Wickham studies Italian medieval history. He is interested in medieval peasant societies: how peasants live, remember the past, deal with their neighbours or their lords. How they shaped their own world, in short. He is also interested in how the ancient world transformed itself into the Middle Ages in Europe and the Mediterranean: how major economic change takes place, in other words.
