Biography

Read Dr Qian Kan’s biography.

Dr Kan moved to the UK from China in 1988. She gained a PhD in Linguistics at the University of Lancaster before translating and broadcasting for the BBC World Service and teaching Chinese at the University of Cambridge. She joined The Open University in 2009 to help create the course Beginner’s Chinese, for which she is module chair.

Dr Kan has also written many Chinese learning resources, including Colloquial Chinese for Routledge.
