Janet Street-Porter started her broadcasting career with London station LBC in 1973. Her subsequent life took her through a spell at LWT before creating youth programming for Channel 4 - Network 7 - and BBC Two, where she more or less singlehandedly wrangled the entire DEF II strand into being.

Janet Street-Porter started her broadcasting career with London station LBC in 1973. Her subsequent life took her through a spell at LWT before creating youth programming for Channel 4 - Network 7 - and BBC Two, where she more or less singlehandedly wrangled the entire DEF II strand into being.
She was a challenging choice as editor for The Independent On Sunday, hitting back at claims that she couldn't edit a bus ticket by taking advertising space in which she... well, edited a bus ticket.
She is vice president of the Ramblers Association.
