Biography

Read Joan Swann’s biography.

Joan Swann is director of the Centre for Language and Communications at The Open University, where she has designed and produced a range of open learning materials on the English language, language variation and diversity, children's cultural worlds and everyday creativity in language. Her main research interests are in sociolinguistics, particularly interactional sociolinguistics, language and gender and language and creativity.
