Text

Hi, I’m Phil Manning. I’m a lecturer in palaeontology and research fellow at the University of Manchester.

My very first fossil, I was only seven years old, was from a marine reptile, a sea dragon. It was from an ichthyosaur that was alive 180 million years ago, and I found it in my garden in Somerset. From that day onwards, I was hooked, I was going to be a dinosaur hunter.
