#Hacked is a web app that invites users to investigative a deadly cyber war in Syria, while the clock is ticking. Through mobile interviews, internet searches, and investigations, users need to untangle a network of cyber criminals without having their own phones hacked. Designed for mobile and tablets, but also playable on your computer.

It was initiated by the news organisation Al Jazeera, which is a for-profit enterprise and encourages people to participate through an online platform. #Hacked is national, transnational and global and is concerned with democracy, politics and representation, media democratisation and participation. It was launched in 2016 and is ongoing.

This page is part of Participation Now, a project that brings together a diverse collection of participatory public engagement initiatives with the aim of supporting exploration, learning and engagement. Explore the collection of initiatives or read more about the project.
