Christmas puddings are one of those foods where microwaving is neither better nor worse than the traditional method.
On the one hand, since microwave cooking works mostly by heating up the water in a food, and it penetrates quite deep into the food, it is actually a rather good way to cook and reheat a Christmas pudding.
On the other hand, there are many more ingredients in a Christmas pudding than most foods so there is a real advantage in giving enough time for the various bits to blend together.
