The Interdependence Day project sets out to ‘make new maps for an island planet’. It aims to bring a fresh approach to global issues.

The public event held at the Royal Geographical Society London on October 20th 2007 offered many different ways for people to engage with issues of climate change and globalization.

The day combined talks, workshops, installations and unexpected treats.

Analysis of unsustainable trade from leading experts was followed by apple tasting, a festival of new participation projects; slow food (eaten and discussed), films, arts installations, poetry performance, small group discussions and games and the UK's one and only cycle powered cinema.

The word unique is worked too hard these days, but Interdependence Day 2007 found a really distinctive and inviting way to make space for new thinking and debate. Explore these materials and links to get a flavour of it, and sign up at interdependenceday.co.uk to get news of future events.
