Is Free thinking something that appeals to you? Why not dip into our suggested books, courses and weblinks?

Study with the OU
An Introduction to the Humanities (A103) - This is a year-long, part-time course that provides an introduction to Art History, Music, Literature, Philosophy, Religious Studies, Classical Studies and History (including History of Medicine).

Doing Philosophy (AXR271) - This is a week-long residential school, run by the Open University in Bath. It examines a range of philosophical problems.

Philosophy and the Human Situation (A211) - This is a year-long, part-time course that studies a wide range of problems in Philosophy. It will provide a solid grounding in the discipline.

Reading Political Philosophy: Machiavelli to Mill (AA311) - This is a year-long, part-time course in which you would study the classics of political philosophy, including work by Machiavelli, Hobbes, Locke, Rousseau, Marx and Mill. (Running in 2007, 2009 and 2011).

Thought and Experience: Themes in the Philosophy of Mind (A308) - This is a year-long, part-time course in which you would study many aspects of one of the most exciting areas of contemporary philosophy. (Running in 2008, 2010 and 2012).

There are several good introductions to Philosophy out at the moment. Here are two (the first is simpler than the second):

Weblinks
The Open University Philosophy Department website includes a page with extensive links to a wide range of philosophy on the internet.
