Exploring the Arctic and Antarctic wildernesses
The Arctic and Antarctic remain the greatest wildernesses on Earth. The scale and beauty of the scenery and the power of the elements—the weather, the ocean and the ice—is unmatched anywhere else on our planet.
The Poles are also home to many of the most charismatic animals, from polar bears to emperor penguins, and wolves to wandering albatrosses.
Using the latest camera technology on land, the air and underwater, Frozen Planet captures the drama of their lives in the most intimate detail.
Frozen Planet on TV
Frozen Planet is a showing again through December on BBC One's signzone on Tuesday nights/Wednesday mornings. Details can be found at bbc.co.uk.
Please note: If you've arrived at this page looking for our Frozen Planet poster, thank you for your interest, but unfortunately, demand for this item was very high and we have now exhausted our current supplies. Why not explore the Frozen Planet through your computer instead using the links below?

Leopard Seals and Walruses
Hi my name is Alex and I am 6 years old. We have been studying Polar regions at school and watching the Frozen Planet, I really like it. My question for the class board was 'which is stronger, a walrus or a leopard seal?' No one seems to know the answer and I have tried looking on the internet. Please can you help?
Thanks

Hi Alex,
Sorry for the delay, we have heard back from our expert and he has given the following answer:-
"A walrus is stronger because it is a much bigger animal, whereas a leopard seal whilst still big, is much smaller."
Hope this answer was what you were looking for.
Thanks Alex.

I've spoken to the warehouse and they are still in the process of sending out the posters. Due to the overwhelming demand they are taking longer to reach people than initially thought.
Please be assured that the posters will be with you as soon as possible.

Frozen Planet poster
I ordered a poster online in the first half of November. I understand there has been high demand but when I rang to check there was no option to speak to a person. An automatic message told me I'd have to wait 28 days - well it's been over 40 now. Since I don't know if my original order has even been logged I have ordered another poster.

I ordered a poster when it was still in stock and have an order number, how can I check the status of my order, or find out if I'm still getting one?
Thanks.

Hi Graham,
As you have a reference number then your poster should be on its way to you shortly - the warehouse were still sending them out this week.
It's not a good time to get in touch (staff taking their Christmas break), but if it hasn't arrived by the new year, try telephoning us on 0845 366 8023.

Images from the series
It would be great if some of the fantastic high resolution video taken during the series was used to make downloadable wallpapers and purchasable prints/canvases etc. There have been some fantastic images I would love to have on a canvas at home!

episode 7
I hear that the US will not include episode 7 (the one that addresses climate change) for purchase on the Discovery Channel. Is there any way that a local community can purchase it for viewing? (This may not the be the right place to ask--but refer me to the proper department)

The Frozen Planet
Why O Why when you have made such a wonderful programme do you dub in FAIRGROUND music rather than background ?
I have complained too many TIMES to the B.B.C. about this problem of not being able to hear the informative commentary of Mr Attenborough and others.
Such a huge pity when the subject matter of The Frozen Planet is brilliant, as is the commentator.
PLEASE, PLEASE may we hear the programme as well as seeing it ???

Dear Mr Ludar-Smith,
Many thanks for your comment. We have contacted the Production Team over at the BBC and they have given us the following answer:-
"- Background music is used to heighten emotion and complement the visuals - and we always try to find exactly the right balance for our viewers. We use audience feedback and the results of the BBC’s audibility survey to ensure that we maximise audibility without compromising the editorial or creative ambition of our programme makers.
- Natural History programmes take great measures to strike the right balance for viewers.
- The BBC now subtitles 100% of its programmes, making them more accessible to those with hearing difficulties."
I hope this helps to answer your question.
Many thanks
