Health Check is an ongoing series broadcast on the BBC World Service offering a weekly round-up of global health stories and topical issues in medicine

Highlights from the upcoming series:

The Health Check team look at how the lives of people with Alzheimer’s Disease are improving. From Kent to India, explore how people are working and training in dementia care.

Adolescents have particular health issues, and in many parts of the world they are not given the attention they need. The Health Check team look at projects which attempt to delay the marriage of girls, and inform them about sexual health. The team also explores the pressures on adolescents, and schemes to prevent mental illness in this age group.

As mortality from infectious diseases declines, more people are living longer and developing cancer. In this programme the Health Check team explores the different survival rates in different parts of the world, including the prevention, diagnosis and treatments.

The Health Check team travels to far flung places to witness where the public health system has successfully improved the outcomes for the population.
