This series of documentaries would have scored a worthy ten out of ten, were it not for some of the incredibly annoying camerawork. Much out of focus, much 'speeding up' and jittery camerawork really spoiled this for me, along with Prof. Bartlett's incredibly poor pronunciation, let alone his very stilted manner of presentation.
For example, the word 'class' should rhyme with Bass (as in the beer from Burton On Trent) or a particulary tasty fish of the same name, not pronounced 'clarse' as rhyming with parse or farce. The same with 'France', it should rhyme with the word prance, not 'Frarnce' as how it was often referred. There were many other mispronunciations, but I think I have got the message through.
These remarks may well appear subjective, but I hear on a day to day basis our English Language being spoiled and diluted by folk that should know an awful lot better.
Though I don't doubt Prof. Bartlett had little or no say in the post producation of the series, therefore his only 'guilt' in my opinion is his awful pronunciation, in my humble opinion this series would earn a mere seven out of ten.
Would I watch it again? Yes I would, but with much clenched teeth!
