OU on the BBC: Nation On Film

Updated Tuesday 11th January 2005

Through rare archive footage, Nation on Film takes a fascinating look at history from both sides of the camera.

When amateur film enthusiasts shot movies in the last century, few probably suspected that they were creating a valuable resource for future historians. Nation on Film explores this unique eyewitness archive.

The programmes cover a range of stories and themes, but all deal with subjects that have fascinated film-makers: wildlife, holidays, family life, motor cars, aviation and football.

First broadcast: Friday 14 Jan 2005 on BBC FOUR
