Are you inspired to learn more about Astronomy or the Universe? Try taking a course with the OU:

S194 Introducing Astronomy
This course will develop your understanding of topics such as violent stellar explosions, distant galaxies and the 'big bang', with sections on planets, stars, galaxies, extraterrestrial life, and the origin of the Universe.

S196 Planets: an introduction
This course concentrates on the planets and planet-sized objects in orbit around our own star (the Sun), and also delves into our rapidly advancing knowledge of planets of other stars.

S197 How the Universe works
This course describes the fundamental interactions that make the Universe work, how the Universe came to be as it is and how it may evolve in the future.

S103 Discovering Science
The course uses the approaches taken by physicists, Earth scientists, biologists and chemists to develop your understanding of planet Earth. This includes Earth's materials and life-forms, the wider spheres of the Solar System and our Galaxy, and the physical laws that govern all matter in the Universe.

Supporting you all the way
Whatever you decide to do, you’ll never study alone. At the start of each course, you are allocated a tutor and study group who can be contacted by post, telephone or e-mail. Your tutor will provide advice and guidance throughout your studies and will give individual feedback on your progress. Your Regional Centre is also on hand to answer any queries you may have.

There are many more courses on offer through the Open University. For more information browse our courses page.
