Harriet has started a thread discussing Episode 1.
I think more of these programmes should be made in order to bring the dilemma of a changing older society and the issues it raises, to the fore. The question always arises of course, as to what is the "best way" to deal with the elderly. Well my question is :-
"What do the specialists do about THEIR impending old age. How do the consultants and professors prepare for their geriatric era? I have always wanted to ask this question because if they can answer it subjectively, then surely we might have the answer for the rest of us.
Realistically, they are the ones dealing with the problems on a daily basis, the rest of us are too busy getting on with our professions. This IS their profession!
Re: Comments on: "Episode 1"
as its their life then possibly they have to be subjective.
however professional they are it is always your life, so get to know yourself
This enjoyable & interesting programme was spoiled by the confusion at the end. We were watching Lawrence at his wife's grave & suddenly were were presented with Alfred(I think it was Alfred) Peter Lawrence, and the year he died. I was very confused as I thought I was watching Lawrence & I didn't know who had died. Fortunately I had recorded the programme & could wind back, to find that Peter was the right age to be the man who had died. We had never heard him called anything but Peter & were watching Lawrence, so why did that new first name suddenly get thrown in. Even the website calls him Peter. It would have been sad, whichever of them had died, but surely it is important that we know who we should be sad for?
Re: Comments on: "Episode 1"
would I be allowed to be sad for you?
Re: Comments on: "Episode 1"
I agree re the confusion of names
