It's been declared one of the Top Ten Funky Towns on the planet; more significantly, the loss of a major employer sparked a scheme to turn the place into a transition town, with a radical new approach for the local economy.

Geographer and adventurer Nicholas Crane visits the home of one of the greatest social experiments of the 20th century, and uncovers the test bed for an ambitious new idea that aims to change our urban life forever.

Town with Nicholas Crane: Totnes was first shown on BBC Two in August 2011. It has subsequently been shown on the Blighty channel.
