Welcome to the Criminal Justice in Scotland learning resource.
Please note: This resource has not been updated since it was uploaded and does not have course completion tracking set
up or a Statement of Participation.
This learning resource has been created to support and stimulate further debate arising from a seminar on criminal justice in Scotland hosted by The Open University in Scotland on February 10, 2011.
The presentations from the seminar are available to view below.
Following the publication in late 2010 of Criminal Justice in Scotland edited by Croall, Mooney and Munro (Willan/Routledge), this learning resource aims to develop thinking around the key themes in the book, namely the relationships between crime, inequalities, criminal and social justice and the distinctiveness or otherwise of Scottish criminal justice. It aims to provide an opportunity for informed debate and discussion about the current state of criminal justice in Scotland and its likely direction following the UK General Election of 2010 and more significantly the Scottish Parliamentary elections in May 2011.
A forum is available for people to add their thoughts on what are the strengths of criminal justice in
Scotland ? What are the main problems with it – and what changes are desirable – and achievable? You will need to sign in to post to the forum.
