Re-organising order of topics or pages
You may decide that you need to reorganise the order of some of your resources or activities once they have been created.
Your resources and activities will appear on your course home page, with icons beside them depending on what type of resource or activity they might be.
Below is an example of a set of resources on a course home page:
To rearrange the order of this list you need to turn editing on. The list will now have all the editing icons alongside it in addition to the type icons. Beside each resource will be a grey cross icon .
You need to click on the grey cross for the item you want to move.
A popup box will appear with a list of all the options of where you could move that item. Click on the position (destination space) where you want the item to go and the box will disappear and the item will be moved.
Click into the box where you want the item to move and the item will move to that position in the list.
If you want to move some items to display as sub items of another item, use the arrows alongside the edit page button to move items to the right or left .
Moving resources to different sections
If you want to move resources from one section to another, you need to go to your main course page and switch editing on. The list will now have all the editing icons alongside it in addition to the type icons. Beside each resource will be a grey cross icon.
Click on the grey cross icon alongside the resource you want to move and a pop up screen will appear with a list of options of where you can move the resource.
Click on the appropriate option in the list and the resource will appear in that position.
In the following example the test video has been moved onto the Topic 2 section, after the second test sub page.
Navigation between sections
If you used the Topics layout, each section you have created will be listed on the left menu (in this example they're labelled Topics 1, 2 and 3).
On the home page for your course the sections will appear as a list
If you click on one of the topics, the navigation 'jump to' drop down box will appear which means that you can easily navigate to one of the other topics. In addition, navigational links to the previous and next sections will appear on either side of this dropdown box.
If you have lots of pages in each section, there isn't a similar flow between individual pages or subpages as there is between sections and you will need to set up your own links once you're happy with the order of content.
Setting up the links between pages is described in 'Adding
pages' under the heading 'links
module does have arrows to the next page.
The creators of Observing the Night Sky: What next? used their own image files for the 'back' and 'next' page button links, however text links work equally well.
