1.4 About ICOPER

This study unit has been produced by the “Interoperable Content for Performance in a Competency-driven Society” (ICOPER) consortium. ICOPER is a project funded by the eContentplus programme of the European Community. It works in cooperation with other European projects related to Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) standards e.g. the CEN WS-LT Learning Technology Standards Observatory.

The ICOPER project has set out to:

  • Analyse and facilitate the adoption of standards and specifications for educational eContent
  • Make more learning resources accessible in order to facilitate the interoperability of information
  • Validate both the standards and specifications of educational eContent

The ICOPER project has created this unit as a means of disseminating information related to interoperability and standards issues. In addition it has developed the ICOPER Reference Model (IRM) which encompasses many TEL best practices.
