Amelia is 86 and Lawrence is 87, and they have just one thing on their minds - finding someone special again. Meanwhile, Peter is finding it difficult to settle in.

Meet the People

Lawrence Berger

Lawrence is 88 years old and spent most of his life in Watford bringing up five children with his wife Joan. A former prisoner of war, Lawrence and Joan moved to Spalding when they retired and the children had left home. But when Joan died Lawrence began to feel isolated and decided to move to Lovat Fields – he wanted company and to be nearer to one of his sons.

Amelia is 83 years old. Widowed ten years ago after a long and happy marriage, Amelia misses male company and hopes to find some new friends in the village. But after a decade on her own she’s apprehensive about taking the first steps.


Peter Thompson

Peter spent his working life in the Navy. He was stationed in Singapore with his wife Vera for many years and moved to Australia before finally settling in Milton Keynes. Peter was due to move to the village with Vera but a few months before this, she died. Peter moved in on his own but his own health is deteriorating and he is in hospital.


We were sorry to hear of Peter Thompson's death shortly after the end of filming this Silverville.
