As previously described, end devices connect to the Internet and send data across the network. Cell phones, laptops, PCs, printers, and IP phones are examples of end devices using the Internet protocol (IP). Today there are new types of end devices that collect and transmit data, but use different protocols such as IEEE 802.15 and NFC. These non-IP-enabled devices are critical enablers of the IoT.
