In addition to the more dedicated enterprise devices, like the Cisco IOS 819 ISR, there are also low-cost multifunction devices available for home and small business networks. These wireless routing devices offer integrated routing, switching, wireless, and security capabilities. Modern wireless routers offer a variety of features and most are designed to be functional right out of the box, using the default settings. However, it is good practice to change the initial, default configurations.
