An introduction to the course, its aims, teaching questions and learning objectives. An introduction to the team, timetabling and housekeeping issues. The rest of this session will be devoted to reflecting on Reading 1 from the preparatory activities. |

How did we arrive at the current context for science–society relations? What are the current aims of public engagement? What are the strengths and limitations of public engagement for policy formation, decision-making, etc.? Are these aims challenged by the ‘innovation agenda’? |
