Getting ready for university

Updated Wednesday, 2 November 2022

Students at the University of South Wales share how they felt before starting university and how they prepared themselves for student life.

Feeling nervous?

Don't worry, most people will be feeling the same. Everyone is new and in the same situation. Just be yourself and make the most of opportunities to meet people.

Familiarise yourself in advance

Before starting at your university do some research into your campus lay out. Get to know the surrounding areas and nearest shops so that you are more prepared when you start.

Consider freshers' events

Don't make assumptions about freshers' week. There will be events to cater to a whole range of interests.

Organise your time

Look at your timetable and plan your study and free time.

Research your accommodation

Do some research and get the facts about your accommodation.
