Activity 14: Simplifying fractions

Show the following fractions in simplest form, where possible:

  1. 25 divided by 75

     

  2. 12 divided by 36

     

  3. 72 divided by 96

     

  4. 32 divided by 48

     

  5. five divided by 126

     

  6. 164 divided by 256

Answer

  1. 25 divided by 75 = one divided by three

     

  2. 12 divided by 36 = one divided by three

     

  3. 72 divided by 96 = three divided by four

     

  4. 32 divided by 48 = two divided by three

     

  5. five divided by 126 can’t be simplified

     

  6. 164 divided by 256 = 41 divided by 64
