This is an illustration of another condition of the food competition paradigm (Hare et al., 2000). It shows two chimpanzees positioned behind ‘guillotine doors’ to a central room. The doors are raised. The food is now visible to the subordinate chimpanzee, but hidden from the dominant chimpanzee by an occluder.
