Long description

Three circles one inside each other. The largest circle is yellow and is labelled ‘Just can’t do yet’. The middle circle is green and is labelled ZPD. The smallest circle is blue and is labelled can do alone. Beneath the circles are explanations of each:

Just can’t do yet: Things the child just can’t do yet, regardless of scaffolding. For instance, advanced mathematics for a five-year-old child.

ZPD: The zone of proximal development. Things the child can do with a bit of help (scaffolding), such as when prompted with leading questions, or watching an example setter. This is the space where learning and growth occur.

Can do alone: Things the child can do all on their own.
