This image is a photograph of a painted pot. The background is black and the figures (including the cow depicted in the middle) are orange in colour. The god Hermes stands on the left hand side of the pot, with a long beard and a tunic. He is threatening Argus to his right, who is bearded and naked. There are small eyes visible all over Argus’ body especially on his legs and arms. Between the two stands a large and muscled cow.
