So far, you have looked at chunking and mnemonics. A third key way to help encode information into your long-term memory is to think about how the information refers to you. So when you are learning new vocabulary, imagine yourself or those close to you in the memorable images and stories you make up to remember them, such as in the example of my daughter Laura playing the piano, or my German friend inviting me for an ice cream.
