1.2 Gramática y literatura de viaje
Para preparar tu viaje es conveniente entender la gramática básica de la lengua que vas a hablar. En este curso practicarás algunos usos del llamado modo subjuntivo.
To prepare your trip it is convenient to understand the basic grammar of the language you are going to speak. In this course you practice some uses of the so-called subjunctive mode. The subjunctive mood, as it is called in linguistic terminology, is used in a wide variety of structures. Moods indicate whether the speaker is stating a fact (indicative mood), expressing a command (imperative mood) or expressing emotions, wishes, hopes, uncertainty and possibility (subjunctive mood).

En algunas de las actividades necesitarás usar el modo subjuntivo. Aquí tienes un breve repaso de cómo se forma el presente de subjuntivo de verbos regulares. Fíjate en las siguiente oraciones y completa la regla.
Look at the examples in Table 1 below and deduce the grammar rule. Then use the rule to complete the three following sentences.

Remember that there are also a few verbs that form the subjunctive in a completely irregular way: e.g. SER (sea, -as etc); ESTAR (esté, -és etc.); IR (vaya, -as, etc.)

En cuanto a libros de lectura, hay excelentes opciones para leer (en español o en inglés) durante un viaje por Hispanoamérica. Una sugerencia es Cómo viajar sin ver. Latinoamérica en tránsito de Andrés Neuman.
Aunque no sean narraciones de viaje, los clásicos de la narrativa latinoamericana del siglo XX son lecturas muy recomendables. Por ejemplo, La casa de los espíritus de Isabel Allende, Pantaleón y las visitadoras de Mario Vargas Llosa o Cien Años de Soledad de Gabriel García Márquez.
