Many of us take our physical and mental health for granted. We don’t always give it the focus we should. That doesn’t always mean a big difference in the short-term. But staying in good health is key to enjoying later life. And a few small lifestyle changes now can make a big difference as you get older. Of course, the recent pandemic might also set you thinking about your health. It’s led many of us to reassess our general well-being and how effectively we look after ourselves.
So we’ve created our well-being check up to help you manage your health and avoid possible future issues before they become urgent current problems. You’ll start by checking how healthy you are right now. Then we’ll tell you about the five pillars of healthy aging. Nutrition, hydration, physical activity, social activity, and mental stimulation. Many of the steps to keep you physically and mentally sharp are quite simple to take, like changing diet or exercising regularly.
You’ll also cover some wider aspects of wellbeing. They include the importance of sleep, keeping your brain healthy, and of course a good work-life balance. You’ll also find out how important it is to look after your health if you’re a full time carer for children or for old relatives. We’ve included extra resources to help you delve deeper in areas of interest. You’ll also find out how to set up regular health checks.
There’s no time like the present to address any wellbeing issues you have. After all, enjoying good health is at the heart of enjoying life whatever your age.
