(Description) Figure 1 On arrival at Coldbath Fields House of Correction, prisoners were required to surrender their clothes and put on a uniform. Their clothes were then fumigated with sulphur, to get rid of any vermin which might be present. Next, they were tied in a bundle, and a wooden label was attached to indicate who owned it. The clothes were returned to prisoners on their release.
