The figure shows four arrows corresponding to the types of triangulation and labelled as ‘theories’, ‘data’, ‘methods’ and ‘researchers’. These four arrows lead into a box labelled, ‘Triangulation’. The end result of ‘Triangulation’ is shown in a box which is labelled: ‘comprehensive understanding of learning and teaching for the SoTL inquiry’. The figure demonstrates that there are at least four possibilities for achieving triangulation: via theories, data, methods and researchers. Triangulation aims at a deeper and comprehensive understanding of the phenomena that is being studied as a part of a SoTL inquiry.
