Initial thoughts about RfP:

  • That there wasn’t a clear pedagogy just reading time
  • It was something to do as a treat
  • A hobby for some
  • That it was teacher-led
  • That it was a silent activity
  • That there wasn’t much you could do to change a reluctant reader
  • The boys don’t like reading
  • It was a nice extra, for some children
  • It was optional, depending if the children liked reading
  • That it wasn’t that important
  • It was an additional extra – a nice to have
  • That this was just about literature and stories
  • It was a time filler
  • That there wasn’t time for it.
