This is a square which has sides of length 4 cm. It is divided into 16 smaller squares with each of side measuring 1 cm. Black construction lines are drawn on the figure as follows. A diagonal line is drawn from the top right-hand corner to the bottom left-hand corner to divide the square into two triangles. The left-hand triangle is divided into two identical triangles by drawing in the diagonal line from the top left-hand corner. The right-hand triangle is divided into five pieces. In the bottom right there is a right angled triangle, the base and height formed by the edges of two small squares. Above this a parallelogram, with a base formed by the edges of two small squares. To the left of this is a small triangle with two sides formed by the diagonals of the small squares. Below this, and slightly to the left, there is a square which is orientated to stand vertically on a corner. The final shape is another small triangle in the bottom left corner of the large square, with two sides formed by the diagonals of the small squares.
