At the centre of the mind map is a cloud labelled word classes. The mind map has eight branches, each representing a word class and some examples:

  • Nouns. Man, teacher, table, fish, truth, beauty, sadness.
  • Adverbs. Well, quickly, carefully, there, downstairs, today, late, yet, quite, really, almost.
  • Pronouns. I, you, he, she, we, their, his hers, mine, yours, ours, myself, yourself, himself.
  • Exclamations. Hey! Houch! Oh! Hello!
  • Adjectives. Red, sweet, useful, important.
  • Determiners. Articles: a, an, the. Demonstratives: this, that, these, those. Quantifiers: many, few, some, several. My, your, his, her, its, our, their.
  • Conjunctions. And, or, but, unless, until, because, although, yet, since.
  • Verbs. Go, eat, study, be, have, occur, rain, become, grow.
