The model of the brain is separated into three parts: the lower part is the so-called reptilian brain, comprising the brainstem and cerebellum; above this is shown the limbic brain, which includes the amygdala, thalamus, hippocampus and hypothalamus. The third, and largest part is the neocortex, which comprises the cerebral hemispheres and includes the prefrontal cortex.
