At the bottom of the map, running horizontally, is the coastline of North Africa, with Carthage marked on a peninsula to the far left and Phoenicia to the far right. Above this is the Mediterranean sea. Troy is shown in the centre of the map, and is on the western coast of Asia. The heel of Italy is more or less parallel with this. Two places in Italy are marked on the map: Sicily, on the inverted triangular island at the toe of Italy; and Latium, an area around halfway up the boot of Italy, on the western side.
