Week 3: What’s on offer? The marketplace and current issues

Introduction

Last week it was about players in marketplace – the financial firms and the regulators – and the issues, challenges and changes they are currently experiencing.

This week you will focus on the financial products in the marketplace and at the developments taking place in these – like the growth of the equity release market and the pensions revolution in the UK. You will look at the financial firms to go to for the products and the risks associated with them. You will also look at the factors that you should apply to your decisions about financial products by using a four-stage decision-making model.

Hello again and welcome to Week 3 of Managing my financial journey.
Last week it was all about the players in the financial market place and the issues and challenges which they're currently experiencing. This week it is about the products on offer and the changes which we are seeing to these.
We look at the products, the risks associated with them and the ones you need to seek advice about.
There is a focus on pension planning - particularly given the pensions reforms enacted in the United Kingdom in 2015. But we also look at the alternatives to conventional pension schemes for building up the pot of savings needed for retirement.
We also shine the light on the topical subjects of property investment and equity release - both have seen a growing demand in recent years particularly as a result of the low rates of return on other products like savings accounts and bonds. We look at the factors that you should apply to your financial decisions using a 4-stage financial decision-making model.
The market place is changing - this week helps keep you abreast of the latest developments to financial product offerings. Do enjoy the week.
