Week 5: Reading an Act of the Scottish Parliament

Completion requirements

Figure six shows seven speech bubbles. Each speech bubble contains a tip to think about when reading.Aim to understand rather than memorising what you read. Be an active reader --be ready to record your thoughts and ideas as you read. Make a note of key words or points. Read with a purpose, know why you are reading, what knowledge you hope to gain. Are you reading to answer a particular question? Or to learn about a particular topic? Read in meaningful chunks by skim reading a section first to get a general feel for the topic, then reread more slowly in smaller chunks and make notes as you go. Avoid eye strain; make sure the light in the room you are reading in is good. Read in a comfortable position.
