An experiment to demonstrate the electrical conducting properties of molten sodium chloride. The diagram shows the sodium chloride solution above a heater. The two metal rods are labelled, the positive one on the left ('anode') surrounded by chlorine modules, the negative one on the right ('cathode') by sodium molecules. Electron flow is shown from the anode into the battery, and along from the battery into the cathode.
