Advice on uploading images to the course forums

In some of the course forum activities you are encouraged to attach an image, of your own creation or found (paying attention to copyright licensing).

The following advice might be helpful when posting.

The following file types .jpg or .png files are recommended for embedded images

For attachments .jpg, .png, .pdf or .docx are possible. For further guidance you can also consult the Open University computing guide.

To ensure you image is easy to view it is recommended to limit the size of the image to 500 pixels.

Whilst it is possible to upload more complex images there is a limit for uploads to the forum on this site of 500KB. This is lower than the main university module sites, which can accommodate 5MB. The limit on this forum might be larger than those generated from mobile phone images. One workaround to reduce an image size from a mobile phone is to email the image to yourself and select a smaller size when prompted by your mail provider, where this is available.
