SWOT is a framework for analysing business cases. It includes the key concepts of: strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. Using this framework enables you to carefully categorise the internal and external factors influencing a business so you can obtain an overview of how well it's functioning at a particular point in time.

SWOT is used in business studies and in the workplace. In business studies, it's used to analyse and learn from a case study. In the workplace, it's used to inform action, strategy and continuous business improvement. In both cases, it generally involves writing a report or a set of slides to present the analysis.

This course will develop your language for writing a SWOT analysis report for a business context. Through completing the learning activities you will develop your skills for selecting and organising relevant information into a well-structured report. You will learn how to write concisely, formally and coherently so that what you write has a positive impact, not only in a study context, but also in the workplace.
